CONGRATULATING Angelina McKane upon the occasion
of capturing the Girls 100-yard Butterfly title at
the NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championship
on November 19, 2022
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Corning-Painted Post junior Angelina McKane upon the occasion of
capturing the Girls 100-yard Butterfly title at the NYSPHSAA Girls
Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the
Webster Aquatic Center; and
WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family,
friends and teammates, Angelina McKane won her second championship in
the Girls 100-yard Butterfly with an All-American time of 54.05; and
WHEREAS, Angelina McKane also earned Federation and a public-school
championship in the 50-yard Freestyle with another All-American time of
23.56, edging out the runner-up by .02 seconds; during the preliminaries
on Friday, she beat her own team record with a time of 23.39; and
WHEREAS, With these monumental wins, Angelina McKane earned a berth
to the Speedo winter Junior Championship East at the Greensboro Aquatic
Center in North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her latest New York State championship
titles, Angelina McKane was named the 2021 and 2022 Section IV Class A
Swimming and Diving Championship Outstanding Performer and is a
three-time Southern Tier Athletic Conference All Star; and
WHEREAS, Angelina McKane is also an exceptional student, having
maintained High Honor Roll status since 2020, and as a member of the
National Junior Honor Society; she is a member of her school's Student
Council, Youth Activation Committee, and the Future Business Leaders of
America; and
WHEREAS, Angelina McKane also enjoys giving back as a volunteer at
the Wineglass Marathon and Unified bowling matches; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Angelina McKane is due in
great part to the efforts of Coach Alyssa Helsing and Coach Anthony
Furstoss, skilled and inspirational tutors, respected for their ability
to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, Angelina McKane's overall record is outstanding; she was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by her family, teammates, friends
and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, Angelina McKane has proven
herself to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably
on her school; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Angelina McKane has clearly made a contribution
to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Angelina McKane upon the occasion of capturing the Girls
100-yard Butterfly title at the NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving
Championship on November 19, 2022; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Angelina McKane and Coaches Alyssa Helsing and Anthony
Furstoss.
