Senator Stewart-Cousins attended a fundraiser at the Westchester Turkish Cultural Center benefitting victims of the recent earthquakes in Van, Turkey. On October 23 a magnitude 7.2 tremor hit the province of Van in Eastern Turkey, reportedly killing 600 people. And just weeks later a magnitude 5.7 aftershock struck the same region. The November 12 fundraiser featured live music and a bake sale. All proceeds benefitted the Helping Hands Relief Foundation, which helps victims around the world respond to natural disasters.
