Senator Malcolm A. Smith Photo of the Week
Senator Malcolm A. Smith (D-St. Albans) joined Assemblyman Bill Scarborough (D-Jamaica), Assemblywoman Barbara Clark (D-Queens Village), Councilman Leroy Comrie (D-St. Albans), members of the NYPD and the family of slain Officer John Scarangella for a street renaming in Scarangella’s honor. The officer was killed 30 years ago in Smith’s district.
“It is my honor to pay tribute to one of New York’s finest. Officer Scarangella sacrificed his life for the safety of our community and it is only fitting that we pay tribute to him. His family can now drive by the street bearing his name and take solace in knowing that although he is gone, he will never be forgotten.”
Malcolm A. Smith is the New York State Senate Immediate Past President Pro Tempore (2008-10). He currently serves as Secretary of the NYS Democratic Conference and ranking member on the Banking Committee.
