This is the bi-weekly report on the New York State Senate’s web presence. Last week the website received a total of 72527 visits, twice as much as the last reporting period. It had a bounce rate of 34%, 8 points lower than it’s long term average of 42%, and new visitors 64% of the time, nearly as high as the long term average of 66%. This is very likely linked to the expected production of the budget.
The live webcasting of session has drawn just over 582281 views since it’s adoption and the archived footage has followed that growth very closely. The NYSenate Livestream and Youtube channels continue to spar for most viewed and Youtube has fallen slightly behind with 581831 overall visits. The short clips on the NYSenate Youtube account are about 12 times more watched than the full videos of session and events posted on the nysenateuncut account.
Using social media the Senators now reach a total of 26007 people through Facebook accounts linked to NYSenate.gov and 10872 through Twitter accounts linked to NYSenate.gov. These numbers are lower than the last reporting period, especially Twitter which fell by half. This may be due to Senators unlisting their accounts on NYSenate.gov so that they may be used for political purposes. The NYSenate account itself currently reaches over 3641 people through it’s Twitter account
