A number of common health conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes and elevated blood cholesterol, can remain undiagnosed for years because they present subtle and vague symptoms, if any at all. Known as silent killers, they quietly damage body organs and tissues, sometimes for years, before reaching the stage where symptoms begin to show.

For uninsured or underinsured individuals, the sticking point may be access to care.

For help locating a health center in your neighborhood, visit the Community Health Care Association of New York State’s web site at and type “locate a community health center” in the search field at the top right of the page. A statewide list can be accessed by clicking the “see all results” line after the words “Health Centers.”
