Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R- Syosset) today announced that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is offering four scholarships that will be awarded this June to current or future college students.
" Given the high cost of going to college, my colleagues and I want to make it easier for students and working families from New York to meet their expenses," said Senator Marcellino, past president of the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators. "I urge students to apply for these prestigious scholarships so that they may secure as much extra help as possible with their expenses."
Two academic scholarships of $1,500 each and two athletic scholarships of $1,500 each are available, according to Senator Marcellino. Scholarship opportunities are available to current or future college students of any heritage who are residents of the state.
Eligibility is based on grade-point average, involvement in organized sports, interest in higher education, community involvement and individual financial need.
"Our conference is very proud of our role in promoting higher education and assisting students in reaching their academic goals and full potential for future success in the global marketplace. As always, if you have any questions or need additional information please contact me," concluded Senator Marcellino.
Area students can request an application by calling Senator Marcellino’s District Office at 516-922-1811 or 631-549-0729. The application deadline is April 15.
