Ms. Moschetta’s kindergarten students recently welcomed State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman David McDonough (19th Assembly District) to their classroom at Old Mill Road Elementary School in North Merrick.

The students listened as Senator Fuschillo read House Mouse, Senate Mouse by Peter and Cheryl Barnes. The story allows children to learn in a fun way about how government works, how ideas are turned into new laws, and what Senator Fuschillo’s job is as a New York State Senator.

Ms. Moschetta’s class also asked Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman McDonough questions about their jobs and offered ideas for new laws.

"Getting children to enjoy books at an early age will help them develop good reading habits, which will benefit them throughout their lives," said Senator Fuschillo. "I really enjoyed reading to the class and watching how much fun they had listening to the story."
