Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently congratulated four students from Kennedy High School in Bellmore for being named some of the best and brightest young science students in the entire country.
Three students, Daniel Bornstein of Merrick, Barri Brown of Bellmore, and Stephanie Weiner of Bellmore, were each honored for being named semi-finalists in the Intel Science Talent Search, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college science competition. Participants come from all across the country, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands to compete in the program. Daniel, Barri, and Stephanie were among only 300 students nationwide selected as semi-finalists.
The fourth, Stefanie Busgang of Bellmore, was honored for being named a finalist in the 2010 Neuroscience Research Prize competition, which is sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology. Stefanie was one of only ten students from across the country chosen as finalists.
Senator Fuschillo presented the four students with copies of legislative resolutions, which he sponsored, that were passed by the New York State Senate in honor of their achievements. Their names and accomplishments will forever be part of the history books in the New York State Senate’s official record.
“These four young students have earned recognition as some of the top young science students in the country after countless hours of research, study, and hard work under the guidance of their teachers. This will be the first of many remarkable accomplishments for Stephanie, Daniel, Barri, and Stefanie, and I am pleased to congratulate them.” said Senator Fuschillo.
