Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently joined with the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence in honoring Merrick residents Doug and Marsha Mills for their contributions to the community. Mr. & Mrs. Mills were chosen as the honorees for the Coalition’s annual Spring Gala.
Senator Fuschillo was joined by Assemblyman David McDonough (19th Assembly District) in sponsoring a legislative resolution, passed by both the Senate and the Assembly, recognizing Mr. & Mrs. Mills’ many years of community service.
In addition to their efforts on behalf of the Coalition, Doug and Marsha Mills have also contributed their time tonumerous other community groups, including the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, Merrick Kiwanis, Merrick Little League, Nassau County Girl Scouts, YMCA, United Way, and the Institute for Student Achievement.
The Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence is an independent not-for-profit organization offering information and services related to domestic violence, violence in dating relationships, abuse of the elderly, children who witness family violence and sexual assault.
"Over the years, Doug and Marsha have devoted countless hours to help the Coalition and many other charitable and community organizations provide important services to our neighbors. I’m pleased that we could join together and give recognition to two people who have already given so much back to all of us," said Senator Fuschillo.
