The governor vetoed legislation that would have regulated pharmaceutical industry middlemen, but independent pharmacists and their allies in the state Legislature say they’ll try again.

The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA), which represents PBMs, says the industry advocates for consumers and health-care plans and has saved them $40 billion over 10 years.

State Sen. James Skoufis called Cuomo’s veto “an abhorrent decision that will hurt New Yorkers,” and vowed to fight in this session for the Legislature to again pass the PBM bill, as well as a bill allowing patients to fill mail-order prescriptions locally in some circumstances.
