State Senator John Bonacic (R/I/C - Mt. Hope), has requested a disaster declaration from the Governor for Delaware, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.
"Over the weekend, torrential rains did significant damage to parts of our Senate District. I have asked Governor Pataki to send State Emergency Management Office staff throughout the region to assess damage and provide any available assistance," Senator Bonacic said.
Bonacic has visited parts of all four Counties over the weekend and Monday, assessing damage and meeting with local elected and emergency services officials. "I am hopeful that the Governor can direct SEMO to make a prompt damage assessment and that the Governor can petition the President for a disaster declaration," Senator Bonacic said.
