Kevin S. Parker

September 24, 2007

Adding his voice to the chorus of voices that have spoken out about the injustices of the Jena 6, State Senator Kevin Parker reminded the community at large that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. This serves as a reminder that days of segregation and Jim Crow laws were just a few decades ago and these policies still have a lot to do with race relations in this country." W.E.B Du Bois told us that the ‘problem of the 20th Century is the color-line.’ And it continues to be in the 21st Century. Therefore we must remain steadfast in our support of these young men whose lives have been plunged into turmoil by a system that still puts skin color before character.
