Senator Liz Krueger, D-Manhattan, said she isn’t taking a shot at Gov. David Paterson but wants the beleaguered chief executive to delegate budget duties to Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch.
“Based on today’s news, the governor has some new issues to deal with,” she said as she prepared for the public revenue forecasting conference. “Clearly, there’s going to be complications added to his daily life.” She said she’s suggesting Paterson can more likely achieve a timely and fair budget under extremely difficult financial times by letting someone else take the assignments he normally would have. “A logical thing to be done is to ask the lieutenant governor to take over the daily budget negotiations.” She said Ravitch has good financial management experience and can handle the duties.
