Seneca Falls- Continuing his commitment to the brave men and women currently serving in the military, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio will hold a holiday drive to collect non-perishable items to be sent to American troops stationed overseas.
Senator Nozzolio is asking the community to drop off non-perishable items to his office located at 119 Fall Street in Seneca Falls or his Auburn Office at 69 South Street. The holiday drive officially kicks-off on Monday, November 26th and concludes on Friday, December 14th.
“There is no better time than the holiday season to think of others and help our troops serving our Nation overseas,” Senator Nozzolio said. “It is a pleasure for me to hold this very beneficial holiday drive and accept items that will be donated to our troops.”
Donations may include non-perishable items such as sweatshirts, disposable hand wipes and sanitizer, instant coffee, dry mix beverages such as Crystal Light and Tang, pipe cleaners, Q-tips, handi-wipes, writing paper, envelopes, pens, and hard candy.
Last year, Senator Nozzolio started the holiday drive after being contacted by Belinda McElroy of Sodus. Mrs. McElroy, whose son serves in the military, explained the importance the troops place on receiving care packages from home. Last year’s holiday drive was a tremendous success and as a result of an overwhelming outpouring of support, fourteen boxes weighing over 239 pounds filled with items were sent to soldiers overseas.
Senator Nozzolio is asking area residents with family members or loved ones serving in the military overseas to contact him by email at firstname.lastname@example.org if their soldier would like to receive a care package this holiday season. The e-mail should list your name, your relation to the soldier, your phone number, as well as the soldier’s mailing address overseas.
