The Senate has asked all non-essential personnel to work remotely. Senate members have been provided materials to assist them in making the necessary arrangements with staff, and continue to serve constituents. As of March 15, Senate Majority Leader Andra Stweart-Cousins has closed the State Senate’s New York City office at 250 Broadway. State Senator District Offices have also been advised to close, and for all District Office staff, and all non-essential State Senate central staff, to work remotely.
The Senate is not closed. However, scheduled legislative session days have been canceled. Instead, the Senate will go into session at the call of the Temporary President as plans are being developed for a future schedule and safety protocols while working towards an expedited State Budget. The Capitol, Legislative Office Building, and ancillary legislative offices are closed to visitors.
