Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. coordinated a joint initiative to support families and community organizations through turkey giveaways, grocery gift card distributions and hot meal deliveries for those in need during November. The initiative demonstrates Senator Addabbo's dedication to food security and community safety networks during the upcoming holiday season.

The November initiative included the following main activities:

Senator Addabbo distributed over one hundred turkeys to the community which were provided by Macerich and Met Council. The distribution of turkeys reached multiple organizations and residents which included the Woodhaven Residents Block Association, Kiwanis Club of Ozone Park-Woodhaven, Richmond Hill-South Ozone Park Lions Club, Cityline Ozone Park Civilian Observation Patrol (COPCP), P.S. 51, the High School For Construction Trades, Engineering & Architecture (CTEA), Outreach Development Corporation in Richmond Hill and multiple residents who contacted Senator Addabbo’s Office for help.

The Ozone Park Kiwanis and Richmond Hill-South Ozone Park Lions Club along with other constituents in need received gift cards from Local 338 RWDSU.

The Resorts World donation of 250 hot meals went to Queens Community House for distribution to feed families and individuals throughout the district.

Senator Addabbo joined his colleagues to write a letter to Governor Hochul about SNAP benefits when the program experienced a temporary interruption during the month. The initiative demonstrates the necessity of immediate support for hungry New Yorkers while pushing for legislative solutions in the next session.

The month brought two community events which combined generosity with community strength through the Solid Rock Deliverance Tabernacle & Ozone Park Residents Block Association Community Lunch and the Woodhaven Residents Block Association Thanksgiving Giveaway.

Senator Addabbo also collected food for several community church pantries and organizations throughout November and the beginning of December. They were: Sacred Heart Parish Ministries, Empowering Futures Through Community, Education & Resources – And Beyond, Solid Rock Deliverance Church, and U.N.I.T.Y Family Enrichment Center.

“Access to food is not a luxury—it is a basic right. Every turkey distributed, every gift card handed out, and every meal shared reflects our commitment to keeping families fed and our communities strong,” Addabbo said. “We must do more at the state level to prevent hunger and to safeguard essential nutrition programs.”
