Panel to solicit input from businesses, taxpayers, others;  will lead to legislative action plan
The New York State Senate Republican Program Development Committee will be hosting the first in a series of public forums across the State to assist in development of the Senate Republican’s 2010 legislative action plan on Thursday, May 28th  from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mercy College in Yorktown Heights, State Senator Elizabeth O’C. “Betty” Little, the Committee’s chairperson announced today.
According to Little, the committee will solicit input from the business community and taxpayers regarding the impact of the State’s current policies and what ideas they have for the creation of legislation that will make New York a more attractive place to reside, work and live the American Dream.
“We want New Yorkers from every region of this State to know we share their frustration with high taxes and the lack of opportunities for their children and grandchildren.  We also want them to know we are listening to their concerns and enthusiastic about developing a positive legislative action plan that improves their lives and builds a stronger, more prosperous future,” Senator Little said.
“Members of the Senate Republican Conference have repeatedly expressed our concerns about the negative impact of the 2009-10 State Budget on businesses and families across the state.  Many businesses are calling this the ‘last straw’ that could force them to leave the state or go out of business entirely,” stated Senator Morahan

“This committee will play an important role in developing and advancing the initiatives our Republican conference will be fighting for to improve the lives of taxpayers and families all across this State -- while also providing businesses with an environment to expand  and create more jobs." Senate Republican Leader Dean G. Skelos said.
Thursday’s hearing will take place at Mercy College, 2651 Strang Boulevard, Yorktown Heights from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Additional hearings will be held throughout the State in the next few months and will be announced at a later date.
Members of the  New York State Senate Program Development Committee include: Chairperson Little (Queensbury), Senator Tom Morahan (New City), Senator John Flanagan (East Northport), Senator Martin Golden (Brooklyn), and Senator James Seward (Oneonta).
