Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that the New York State Senate passed a legislative resolution he sponsored honoring Lindenhurst resident Kevin Schmidt for attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.
Kevin, a member of Troop 183, attained boy scouting’s highest honor after spending years rising through scouting’s rank through hard work and community service. Kevin also planned, developed, and implemented a community service project. For his project, Kevin demolished and disposed of an old shelter used to house an injured eagle at Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown. Kevin then constructed and installed a brand new eagle shelter that will house the injured bird.
“Kevin should be very proud of his accomplishments. He is a dedicated young man whose commitment to his community and strong leadership qualities set an example for everyone to follow,” said Senator Fuschillo. “I congratulate Kevin on this great achievement and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Senator Fuschillo said.
With passage of the resolution, Kevin’s achievements will forever be part of the official record of the New York State Senate.
