Senator Tedisco and Assemblywoman Walsh Honor Class B Boys Basketball State Champs Mekeel Christian Academy

Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville) and Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,REF-Ballston) today honored the NYSPHSAA Class B Boys Basketball Champion Mekeel Christian Academy Lions to the Capitol.  Tedisco and Walsh introduced the Mekeel Lions on the Floor of the state Senate and Assembly and presented them with a NYS Resolution they passed honoring their state championship and incredible season.

Mekeel, which is located in Scotia, captured the state title defeating Seton Catholic 42-37 on March 17th in Binghamton. 

The victory earned the Lions their school's first-ever state championship! During the season, the team enjoyed the #1 ranking in the state for a period of 13 straight weeks! 

The Lions finished the seasons with an overall record of 24-3. Players Deonte Holder and Jordan Jackson were Ch. 13 All-stars and Senior Carter Stewart was named the tournament's MVP and will be taking his talents to Binghamton University this fall. Head Coach Chad Bowman earned career win #400 in the state championship game.
