Sen. Tedisco joins Saratoga County Sheriff Zurlo to announce new state funding for traffic safety

Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville) today announced that he has secured a $25,000 state public protection grant for the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department.

Tedisco secured funding which will be used to purchase a speed monitoring trailer to assist in the Sheriff’s traffic safety efforts.  Studies have shown that devices, such as speed monitoring signs that provide instant feedback to a driver, are likely to cause a change in behavior and slow traffic.

This new equipment will be used throughout Saratoga County to identify problem areas in conjunction with traditional speed enforcement efforts. The Sheriff’s goal is not to write more tickets, but to slow traffic and keep our roadways safe for everyone.

“Public safety is, and should be, the top priority for any elected official in whatever level of government they are in.  I am proud to have been able to fight to return tax dollars back to Saratoga County taxpayers and enhance the efforts of Sheriff Michael Zurlo and the men and women of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department who put their lives on the line every day to keep people safe,” said Senator Tedisco.

“We have considered the purchase of a portable speed monitoring system for some time. I wish to personally thank Senator Tedisco for helping us fund this project that will have a positive impact on the safety of our communities,” said Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo.
