Senator Tedisco presents NYS Senate citations to Matthew Howard, Sr. of Schenectady and daughter Leeann Winchell, and Loren Lent of Glenville

Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I, REF-Glenville) honored several good Samaritans with citations at the New York State Capitol today who came to the rescue of a 14-year-old girl who fell from the Sky Ride at Six Flags Great Escape this past Saturday.

Matthew Howard, Sr., of Schenectady and his daughter, Leeann Winchell positioned themselves underneath the young girl who was hanging from the ride 25 feet up in the air and successfully caught her without anyone being seriously injured.  Also assisting in the rescue was Loren Lent from Glenville who assisted on the ground.

Tedisco praised the individuals and others who came to the girl's rescue for their selflessness and bravery.  "These individuals who saved the life of the young girl at Great Escape truly represent not only the best of the 49th State Senate District, and New York State, but also of America. Their quick-thinking and willingness to put themselves in harms way helped avert a tragedy. They exemplify what it means to be a hero," said Tedisco.
