State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, and Assemblyman Andy Raia recently presented a New York State Resolution to Dilsah Dilek of Deer Park who was named the "Outstanding Student of the Year" by the New York State Association for Continuing Community Education. Dilsah received her award at an awards dinner held in Albany.
Dilsah Dilek began her educational journey in America five years ago when she and her husband emigrated here from Turkey. Determined to be successful in the United States, Dilsah commenced her educational efforts and quickly mastered the English language. She is currently seeking her GED Diploma, is enrolled in the Home Study and Even Start Programs and has completed five computer courses. Because of her rapport with her peers, her positive attitude and outlook on life, Dilsah has become a role model to other students.
