Senator Mayer Responds to Anti-Semitic Incident at SUNY Purchase College

“I am deeply upset by the recent incident at SUNY Purchase college where Nazi-themed posters were found on campus. It is especially offensive that this incident took place on the last night of Hanukkah. We must speak out against anti-Semitism and hatred wherever it occurs. I commend the school leadership and University Police for their swift response to this incident, which includes the planning of educational dialogues on campus about diversity. The rising tide of hatred toward “others” in our country is a reality that we must confront head-on. We must condemn these overt acts of hate, and we must actively promote a culture of inclusion and tolerance in our community.”

State Senator Shelley B. Mayer was elected to serve the 37th State Senate District in a special election in April, 2018, and she was subsequently re-elected in November, 2018. The 37th District includes the Town of Harrison, where SUNY Purchase college is located.
