Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Chairwoman of the Higher Education Committee, comments on the Trump Administration’s decision to rescind damaging new rules against foreign students

Last week, the Trump Administration modified temporary exemptions for nonimmigrant students, forcing them to leave the country or transfer immediately, if their current school chooses a fully online educational model during this pandemic.

“As Chair of the Higher Education Committee, I am proud to say that our state, along with sixteen other states and the District of Columbia, were unified in opposition to the Trump Administration’s disgraceful new rules for foreign students. Rescinding these divisive, politically motivated policies is a victory for students and colleges and universities across the country, who can now continue to focus on what is most important during this COVID-19 crisis: the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff.”
