Senator Larkin Reminds Kids to Read This Summer

Local Libraries Are A Great Place To Start

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today reminded students to continue to read during their summer vacations and to participate in the New York State Senate’s Dig Into Reading summer reading program.  This program is run in conjunction with the NYS Education Department and offers students the opportunity to register their books online and track their reading progress.  The website also offers age-appropriate reading suggestions and allows you to see which schools are reading the most and which books other students are reading.

“With the warm weather upon us, now is the perfect time to head to your local library and check out the newest selection of books, DVDs and other fun activities, said Senator Larkin.  “Our local libraries are a wonderful resource for the entire family.  Alongside books, you will find movies, music, and information on lectures, workshops and events for the entire family.  If you have not done so in awhile, I would urge you to visit your local library and explore what they have to offer.  It’s a great way to encourage your children to read and keep learning.”
