(Brooklyn NY) State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud hosted a highly successful Easter Egg Hunt for a second year on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Canarsie Park from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. City Council Member Alan Maisel attended and joined Senator Persaud and the Easter Bunny for special pictures with attendees.
It was two hours of fun-filled where kids and parents could play and collect Easter eggs. Five lucky kids found a golden prize egg! Young people from across Senate District 19 enjoyed face painting and balloon stations. Senator Persaud also passed out treat bags, and snacks.
“It was a pleasure to have so many young families come out for this event to enjoy the season and a beautiful day in Canarsie Park. Many thanks to our community partner organizations who helped make this happen,” Senator Roxanne J. Persaud said. “It is important that these children and parents are able to have fun here at home and learn more about all that our district and surrounding community has to offer. I am thrilled that this was such a resounding success.”
Senator Persaud gave an energetic welcome to the families and thanked the volunteers, vendors, partners, and sponsors for the event, including: Millennium Development, Brookdale University Hospital, BJ'S Whole Sale Club, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Capital One Bank, Play Learn Grow Day Care, UTZ Chips, Canarsie Lions, S&D Kids, David Optical, Michelle Singh, NYPD Explorers (69th Precinct & PSA1), New York City Community Emergency Response Teams (NYC CERT) NYC CERT, WellCare, and UPS.
Senator Persaud invited the families to meet the Easter Bunny, take full advantage of the resources available from the office and staff; as well as other community organizations listed above. Senator Persaud led the Easter egg hunt kickoff, having personally hidden the Golden Eggs herself. The NYPD Law Enforcement Program of the 69th precinct and PSA1 led the Egg Hunt. The participating children thoroughly enjoyed their findings and placed them in their ‘Made in Brooklyn’ Totes, courtesy of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
