Join The Fight To STOP Pay Raises For Prison Inmates

SEN. John J. Flanagan

February 12, 2019

At a time when many middle class New Yorkers are working hard to make ends meet, the last thing we should be doing is using tax dollars to give a pay raise to prison inmates.  But that’s exactly what will happen under a new bill (S.3138) sponsored by New York City Democrat Senator Myrie, now being considered in the State Senate.

Instead of using tax money for our roads, our schools and other much-needed investments, this legislation would divert that money to the pockets of those who have broken the law and that is simply wrong.  Any money that the Senate Democrats are thinking of using for this program would be better spent on programs to assist our law-abiding residents rather than to reward prisoners.

If you agree that this legislation is misguided, please sign our petition today to join the fight to say NO to pay raises for prisoners.
