Don't Let Sex Offenders Vote in our Schools!

SEN. Pamela Helming

September 10, 2018

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has issued pardons restoring voting rights to more than 24,000 parolees. His decision gives dangerous felons, such as murderers, rapists, and drug dealers, the right to vote, once they return to our communities before they have completed their full sentence.

The Governor’s unilateral action circumvented the legislative process and is offensive to the thousands of people who have been victimized by these hardened criminals. Sadly, victims of crime whose lives have been taken will never again have the chance to exercise their constitutional right to cast a vote.

Once again, the Governor is putting his own desires and political ambitions above the safety and security of hardworking New Yorkers. His plan will:

  • Force parole officers to use their time and energy to help parolees register to vote.
  • Waste your hard-earned tax dollars to let criminals vote before their sentence is done.
  • Allow sex offenders to enter school buildings to vote unsupervised and undetected.

That’s why I’m asking you to join the fight! Can I count on you to help me roll back Governor Cuomo’s plan to give parolees the right to vote? Together, let’s send Albany a message that the needs of law-abiding citizens must come before those of convicts and their political benefactors.

We need to send a clear message to Governor Cuomo that enough is enough. If you agree, sign my petition and join the fight!
