Eva Hinds
US Army National Guard

Eva Hinds served in the Army National Guard from 1978 to 1983. After retiring from the National Guard, she has worked in a diverse set of industries, including childcare and software quality assurance.

After obtaining an Associate Occupational Studies Degree in Network Administration Security, Ms. Hinds returned to school to pursue a Batchelor’s degree in Human Services at Monroe College.

Throughout her life, Ms. Hinds has always held the desire to be involved in serving her community. She actively advocated for the creation of a veterans committee at Community Board 7 in the Bronx which was successfully established. In addition, over the last seven years, Ms. Hinds has consistently planned community-oriented events to bring veterans together. She shares vital information and resources, and currently works as a House Manager at a facility built to house formerly homeless Veterans, an issue she is particularly passionate about.

Ms. Hinds is the CEO and Chief Editor of Veteran Voices Newsletter LLC, and in this role, she can always be found laying out the next issue of her publication. The Veteran Voices Newsletter came about in the Spring of 2013 when a group of Veterans gathered for a barbecue. One amongst their group decided to document the event and the newsletter was born. Its focal mission is to spread wellness through all the collaborators’ pens. Through their publication, Ms. Hinds and her team have found a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of fellow Veterans by inspiring, informing, and empowering them. Ms. Hinds’ publication is distributed annually, and they celebrate the release of each issue with the presentation of awards and acknowledgments, entertainment, and food.
