Tyrone King
Honoree Profile
Tyrone King is a Highland Falls, New York native, having attended the local
public school system including James O’Neill High School in Highland Falls.
Mr. King is a retired Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army
and now serves his hometown of Highlands as a Town Councilman.
Mr. King served 30 years in the Army prior to his retirement in October
of 2014. He received his training in El Paso in 1984. He later attended the
U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy From 2006-2007. In 2008, he served
as Battalion Sergeant Major of the 121st/123rd Brigade Support Battalion and
was deployed twice from El Paso between 2008-2012.
Since his retirement, he has worked as an advocate for veterans and their
families. He is incredibly involved in the community and regularly meets with
local students to discuss local, statewide, and national issues, as well as give
his perspective on life in public service and serving our country.
His dedication to public service is not only evident in his three decades
serving our country in the Army but is present to this very day. Along with
serving on the Town Board, he currently serves on the Board of Directors
at Riverbank Historic House Museum, a historic site in Cornwall-on-Hudson,
and is a Chairman at the Veterans Resiliency Coalition, which was nominated
for the 2019 Military & Veterans Community Choice Awards.
Mr. King also organized sixth annual Veterans Resiliency Awards Galas and
founded an annual veterans suicide prevention awareness event. He is also
the founder of S4L Entertainment and Sports Management.
For the past six years, through his work with the Veterans Resiliency
Coalition, he has worked tirelessly to impact the quality of life for veterans
and their families in a positive way. Five years ago on June 19, Mr. King
brought back the celebratory Juneteenth tradition in the Village of Highland
Falls.
