Robert Marcor
Honoree Profile
Robert Marcor, is a 94-year-old Army Veteran from WWII. After completing
his training in Alabama, he was stationed in California, Hawaii and Saipan.
From Saipan, he was sent to Okinawa until the surrender of the Japanese,
and from there to Korea. As the Soviets moved into the Northern part of
Korea, he was sent to help in the South.
Mr. Marcor was promoted to Corporal at the end of service and returned to
Wyandanch and married his wife Geraldine in 1949. They have been married
for 70 years.
He joined the Wyandanch Fire Department where he volunteered for 20
years. All four of his children have volunteered time as EMT’s in their local
communities or civic associations.
He is currently a member of VFW Post 2912 in Wheatley Heights where he
continues to volunteer and attend all patriotic events with great pride.
Mr. Marcor moved to Wyandanch when he was five years old and attended
the Half Hallow Hills School District. He has lived almost his entire life in
Wyandanch.
