Kevin F. Nolan
Honoree Profile
Kevin F. Nolan is a Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate in the United States Navy
Reserves assigned to Coastal Riverine Squadron Eight Charlie Company,
1st Platoon out of Groton, C.T. He is the Lead Training Senior Chief Petty
Officer for his unit and serves as a Tactical Craft Operator with weapons
release authority. His unit is a deployable asset providing anti-terrorism and
force protection missions, which include harbor and homeland defense,
coastal surveillance and special missions. He is currently gearing up for his
fifth tour of duty where he will be deployed for approximately a year in the
AFRICOM area of operations.
In his 16 years of service, he spent four years on active duty from 2003-
2007 on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), conducting an eight
month deployment to the Persian Gulf in support of OIF/OEF from 2005-
2006, he was also assigned temporarily for a SURGE deployment on the
USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) to deploy Marines to Kuwait in 2004, and, since
being honorable discharged from active duty in 2007, he has been assigned
to CORIVRON 8 where he deployed in 2011-2012 to the United Arab
Emirates and 2016 to Djibouti, Africa.
During the course of his military career he has received several service
awards, including: (2) Navy and Marine Corp. Achievement Medals, (3)
Armed Forces Reserve Medals “M” x2 Devices, (5) Navy Battle “E” Ribbons,
Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary
Medal, (3) Navy and Marine Corp. Overseas Service Ribbons, Expert
Rifle Ribbon, Expert Pistol Ribbon and FLOC – flag (Admiral) letter of
commendation.
In 2013, he was hired as a Suffolk County Police Officer and assigned
to the patrol division in the first Precinct. He successfully qualified to be
among the few rifle-qualified officer’s in the county after completing the
patrol rifle course. Officer Nolan was then assigned to the patrol rifle
car, 116, which covers the West Babylon area. In March of 2019, Officer
Nolan was selected for the first Precinct’s Gang Unit due to his experience
and proactive police work in the North Amityville area, which is a highly
populated gang and narcotic activity area.
