Mary Westmoreland is a decorated combat veteran and a native New Yorker.

She served in two Military Services: United States Coast Guard and United States Army, both on active and Reserve duty. Currently, she serves as the Department of Defense Employer Support to Guard and Reserve NYC Area Chair and serves as the NY State Vice Chair for the Department of Defense ESGR Program. She is President of the Association of US Army Greater NY Statue of Liberty Chapter, an active member of the Board of Directors of the Navy League NY Council, and proud member of various Veterans support organizations in the Lower Hudson Valley.

She retired in the rank of Colonel from her military career after 31.5 years of Active Military Service on October 8, 2008 having begun her military service as an enlisted member.

Ms. Westmoreland’s military career encompasses command positions and operational and staff levels with the Military Police Corps later deploying to the Persian Gulf War. She held higher command positions and staff headquarters levels, as an Adjutant General Corps officer in Human Resources Operations and Policy, and Systems Integrator; held various senior leadership appointed positions as executive officer and director positions at the HQ Dept of the Army. Ending her career at the Pentagon as Executive Director of a Global Services multi award contract operation, preceded by selection to Executive Officer to Department of the Army Senior leaders, as Deputy Chief of Staff Personnel Resources /DA G1, the Executive Officer to the Chief of Chief Personnel and Resources DCSPA/G1, and as the Executive officer to the Chief of the Army Reserve, CAR. Immediately after 9/11 by she was reassigned from Deputy Command of Army Reserve Personnel Command to appointment as Deputy Director of Reserve Component Policy and Mobilization for Headquarters, Department of the Army. She is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.

Amongst her commitments during her retirement, Ms. Westmoreland served in the capacity of non-partisan appointee on the National Advisory Committee on Women Veterans to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Washington DC, for five years and served as its Chairwoman for the last two years.

She is married to an Air Force veteran. The proud mother of two adult children who are both Army Veterans and a son-in-law who is recent Air Force retiree - all with a multitude of deployments amongst them. They are all engaged in Military Family and Child Support programs.
