Alyssa Danniele Vasquez enlisted in the United States Army in October of 2003 as a Geospatial Engineer. She attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and went on to complete Advanced Individual Training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia through the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.
Her duty locations include Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and Fort Rucker, Alabama. She has deployed twice to Iraq, and once to Afghanistan, in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
Her duty titles have included Topographic Analyst, Team Leader, Ironhorse Readiness Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC), Basic Combat Training Writer/Instructor, Physical Readiness Training NCOIC, and many others. Additionally, she served as a Drill Sergeant in a Combat Engineer One Station Unit Training unit, and as both the Academics NCOIC, and the Quality Assurance NCOIC for the U.S. Army S.E.R.E. (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) School.
Upon exiting the Military, she was hired as a Veteran Advocate, at the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY, Inc., and ultimately transitioned to the role of Program Manager, in May of 2018. She currently manages the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program for two counties in Western New York.
Ms. Vasquez’s earned many awards and decorations including: Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (6 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal (4 Bronze Knots), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal – Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal – Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral Device 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Certificates of Achievement, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge and Air Assault Badge.
In total, she was in Active Duty Army from October 8, 2003 to March 31, 2017. She currently resides in Buffalo with her three children, Nathaniel, Lucinda, and Kaleb.
