Jerry D'Onofrio, Sr. enlisted in the United States National Guard, retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Mr. D'Onofrio, an Italian-American immigrant, came to the United States of America as a young man in January 1948. Two days after arriving in New York City, he made a decision to sign up and join the United States National Guard. He entered the Rainbow Division of the National Guard and served from 1948 to 1964. Mr. D’Onofrio rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class and spent time at Fort Drum in New York and Camp Smith.

Mr. D’Onofrio believed in the American Dream and proudly joined the military to give back to the country that was giving him so much. A true hero, it meant a great deal to him to be willing and ready to be of service to his country.

In 1956, with determination and drive, Mr. D’Onofrio founded D'Onofrio Brothers General Contractors Corp. He is a respected business leader in his community and remains actively involved with the day-to-day operations of his business, which is now managed by his sons. They have been a part of many community projects and have a great sense of pride and love by giving back to their neighbors through service to the community.

Mr. D’Onofrio resides in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where he remains active in his neighborhood and community. He enjoys spending time with his eight children, 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
