Christopher Czarnecki
Honoree Profile
Christopher Czarnecki served in the New York Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major after 36 years of service.
After eight years in the Army Reserve, he entered service with the New York Army National Guard. He was an M1 Tank crew member in the position of Tank Platoon Sergeant. He then served as a Cavalry Scout Platoon Sergeant, and finally, CSM 2-101 Cavalry. He served as Battalion CSM for the 27th BSTB.
Mr. Czarnecki competed in the NYS NCO of The Year Competition in 1997, winning the 42nd Infantry Division NCO of The Competition. On September 20, 2001, he conducted three weeks of security operations as a Section Sergeant at Ground Zero. He was Platoon Sergeant in Operation Noble Eagle, conducting Security Operations for the Military Academy at West Point, and along the Arizona/Mexico Border.
Mr. Czarnecki was a Cavalry First Sergeant in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He was Acting CSM 2-101 CAV NTC rotation in 2011 and Senior NCO for Relief Operations during Hurricane Irene. He was Senior NCO CSM during Relief Operations Hurricane Sandy with 2 -101 Cavalry, acted as Senior Enlisted Advisor for CBRN Operations (HRF Mission), and served as 2-101 Cavalry CSM JRTC Rotation.
He earned an Associate degree in Natural Resources Conservation from Community College of The Finger Lakes, and is a member of the Association of the United States Army and the United States Cavalry and Armor Association.
Mr. Czarnecki earned numerous awards, including The Legion of Merit Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with four oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with four oak leaf clusters), Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (seventh Award), National Defense Service Medal (second Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (“M” device, silver hourglass), the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 5), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with star), Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge and the Silver Medallion of the Order Of Saint George.
Mr. Czarnecki has been married for 29 years to his wife, Carrie, and together they have three daughters and reside in Alden. He has 23 years of service with the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
