Amy Howard

Amy Howard has served as the Chief Executive Officer for ACHIEVE since 2018, overseeing her community’s premier provider of services to individuals with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities in Broome, Chenango and Tioga counties – and a proud part of the Southern Tier community for over 70 years.

As a Chapter of The Arc New York, ACHIEVE provides various supports and services to over 2,200 community residents, including day habilitation services, family support services, residential services, and vocational and employment services, all while advocating for an enhanced quality of life through skill advancement, inclusion, integration, socialization, and independence of people with intellectual and other disabilities.

Under Ms. Howard’s leadership, ACHIEVE underwent a massive, 11,000-square-foot renovation and expansion to develop its unique Adult Social Program, On the Pond ~ At Cutler. The location utilizes a unique, integrated setting for both disabled and non-disabled individuals, where retirees and others can socialize and participate in activities of their choosing. The program offers art, music, exercise, computer skills, recreation and daily activities that participants can select.

With over 25 years’ experience working in the non-profit sector and over 16 years with ACHIEVE, Ms. Howard’s leadership and oversight was exactly what was needed to help the organization navigate many challenges that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms. Howard oversaw the coordination of agency-wide implementations of testing, health and safety protocols and vaccinations, all while still providing specific program support and services to individuals served by ACHIEVE.

Ms. Howard has served on a number of community boards of directors, including two terms on the Community Foundation for South Central New York’s Women’s Fund Leadership Committee, and currently on the Board of Directors for United Health Services (UHS Hospital).

Ms. Howard holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Syracuse University and lives with her two sons in Binghamton.
