Honoree Profile
Audet Price enlisted in the United States Army in April 1970. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. Additionally, he went on to serve in the United States Army Reserve from 1973 to 1976.
Born in Upstate New York, Mr. Price completed Combat Training at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He then went on to attend the Army Quartermaster School at Fort Lee, Virginia, in July 1970. He also took part in further training that focused on military justice, benefits of honorable discharge, code of conduct, CBR, Geneva conversion and RVN training.
Mr. Price was stationed in Vietnam from 1970-1972. For his bravery, dedication and service to the United States of America, Mr. Price earned numerous medals and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Bronze Star, and the Super Shooter M16 Medal.
A staunch advocate for his community, Mr. Price continues to assist those in need, particularly his fellow veterans in and around the City of Rochester.
An active volunteer with the Veterans Outreach Center, Mr. Price collects food and clothing donations year-round, and helps to bring holiday celebrations and cheer to veterans by stuffing stockings and building Easter baskets.
Mr. Price has been a dedicated volunteer with the Gay Alliance for five years and was chosen as Volunteer of the Month in June 2013. He has generously volunteered his time at the Red Ball, Rochester Pride and the Holocaust Exhibit at the JCC, and has been an integral part of assisting with the Rainbow SAGE program.
He is retired as the Food and Nutrition Director at Westgate Skilled Nursing Home. Attendees of the Senior Center, SAGE potlucks and the SAGE picnic have benefited from his food talents.
Mr. Price also volunteers at the Rochester Broadway Theater League and JCC. When he is not volunteering, he enjoys playing cards and games, attending men’s coffee groups, cooking, gardening, traveling and helping friends.
