Neil K. Jordan

Neil K. Jordan enlisted in the New York Army National Guard in 1982. He achieved the rank of E-8 First Sergeant in 2000, and was assigned to the Headquarters Battery of the Battalion, and later to the Alpha Battery.

Mr. Jordan was mobilized for 9/11, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and other civil emergencies. In 2004, he was assigned to the 42nd Infantry Division as the Operations Sergeant for the Rear Detachment. His assignment was as the Assistant G-1 Personal Management, and his primary duty was to remain behind and be responsible for the movement of soldiers leaving in support of the Division. This responsibility also included tracking and engagement with the soldiers coming back stateside.

In June 2007, he was called to active duty with the 27th Brigade Combat Team as a J-7 NCOIC and was responsible for collecting human intelligence. After reaching Afghanistan, he was later assigned to the J-5 section which was responsible for the movement of all Afghanistan army recruits in the Brigade sector of operation. Mr. Jordan planned and participated in over 200 convoys in his 14 months in Afghanistan.

Returning home in 2009, Mr. Jordan was assigned to serve as First Sergeant for Golf Company of the 427 Brigade Support Battalion and continued his service until retiring in 2011.

Mr. Jordan earned numerous State and national awards, including the Army achievement medal six times, the Good Conduct medal, the Global War on Terrorism medal, the Armed Forces Reserve medal with bronze hourglass and “M” device, the NATO medal, and The Afghanistan Campaign medal with campaign star.

He continues to serve his community and his fellow veterans and is a member of the Proctor-Hopson Post #1896 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He is currently serving as Post Commander, the Queens County Commander VFW, and Sr. Vice Commander District 1 VFW. He volunteers his time and talent at the Hollis Garden Food Pantry and is a member of Senator Comrie’s Veterans Advisory Committee. He is past National Deputy Chief of Staff to the national commander of the VFW, and past member of the Department of New York VFW Legislative Committee.

Mr. Jordan has been married to his wife, Mildred, for 36 years. They are the proud parents of three children, a boy and two girls.
