Raymond Arroyo
Honoree Profile
Raymond Arroyo served in the United States Army and the New York National Guard for 14 years, beginning in 1991, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Arroyo was born and raised in Brooklyn and left for the military at the age of 17. He served as a Military Liaison in the New York City Office of Emergency Management and assisted with coordination of rescue efforts for the September 11 tragedy. For his hard work, dedication and efforts in lifesaving initiatives and coordination, he received several recognitions from the New York National Guard.
During his military career, he was a Military Intelligence Information & Imagery Analyst, Communications Specialist and a Combat Medic.
Mr. Arroyo was a member of the Military Intelligence Battalion-Army Reserve Staten Island, also of the 107th CSG of the New York National Guard and of the 369th CSB “Harlem Hell Fighters." It is with this unit that he was mobilized to the theater of war in Iraq, where he was part of the logistics management group of Camp Cedar on the border with Kuwait. During this assignment in the War on Terrorism, Mr. Arroyo was essential and performed humanitarian operations to provide food and other necessities as he worked with orphanages in Iraq to provide desperately-needed resources to children.
His acts of bravery, courage and dedication earned him multiple awards and medals from the New York National Guard and the United States Army. He has received a Bronze Star for his service, dedication and bravery.
After his military service, Mr. Arroyo became a dedicated and important member of his community. He is the President of NYPD 41st Precinct Community Council, member of Bronx Community Board 2, and a mentor at Hunts Point Alliance for Children. He offers valuable assistance to other veterans through the Disabled American Veterans and Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America organizations.
A graduate of CUNY Queens Community College, he earned an Associate degree in Business Administration. Currently, he is the General Manager at Madison Marquette Real Estate Services.
Raymond Arroyo is a proud father of four children.
