Darryl Randolph
US Air National Guard

Darryl Randolph served in the United States Air Force and New York Air National Guard. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) from the Air National Guard after a distinguished 25-year career.

Born and raised in Wyandanch, New York, Mr. Randolph was always a driven student. He excelled as a multi-sport athlete and as a section leader in the Wyandanch High School Marching Band.

After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force as an Electrical Systems Specialist, training at both Lackland Air Force Base and Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. He was subsequently assigned to the 55th Civil Engineer Squadron Offutt AFB, Nebraska, 554th Red Horse Squadron Osan AB, South Korea and the 305th Civil Engineer Squadron McGuire AFB, New Jersey.

Mr. Randolph is a veteran of the Gulf War (Southern Watch) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF), after serving in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait; he then joined the 106th Civil Engineer Squadron, Westhampton Beach.

He has earned numerous awards and commendations, including: AF Commendation Medal, Air Force AF Achievement Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Unit Award with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Outstanding Unit Award with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster,
Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 Service Star, Global War on Terrorism, Humanitarian Service Medal, Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal, AF
Overseas Ribbon Short with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Longevity Service with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 1 ‘M’ Device and 1 Hourglass Device.

During his time of service in the Air Force, he was also employed as a Substation Mechanic at the Long Island Railroad until entering the Suffolk County Police Academy, where he was one of five African-American recruits out of a class of 120. Upon graduation from the Academy, Mr. Randolph was assigned to the patrol section of the Third Precinct in Bay Shore, where he has been recognized as a Suffolk County Top Cop multiple times.

Never having given up on his passion for flight, he attended Farmingdale State College while serving as a Police Officer. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science, earning both FAA Commercial Airplane (Single and Multi-Engine) and Helicopter Pilot certificates. He
is also an FAA Certificated Flight and Ground Instructor.

Mr. Randolph currently serves as a Tactical Flight Officer in the Aviation section of the Suffolk County Police Department. He continues to give back to the community that raised him by serving as the Director of the Wyandanch Wrestling Club – a not-for-profit organization that provides wrestling instruction for Wyandanch students in kindergarten through 6th grade.

Mr. Randolph has been married to his wife, Tanya, since 1995, and they have three daughters.
