Ihor John Hoshowsky

Ihor John Hoshowsky heard the call to serve our Nation and enlisted in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Captain.

Mr. Hoshowsky served two tours of duty in Vietnam, February 10, 1969 - February 9, 1970 and again, July 13, 1970 - February 2, 1972. He was honorably discharged on February 5, 1972.

He earned numerous decorations and medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster and the Parachutist Badge.

Mr. Hoshowsky was born in Ukraine, came to the United States as a displaced person and signed up to serve his new home.

Following his military service, he worked as a math teacher in his community until his retirement.

An active member of his community, he has volunteered his time and talents to the Ukrainian American Veterans, hosting international visitors through the Open World Delegation program. He has participated in celebrations for the Ukrainian Centennial Monument at Town Hall, as well as in Ukrainian independence celebrations. He has also represented the John Onufryk Post 1590 of the American Legion.
