Joshua Jose Diaz served in the United States Army from 2011 to 2019 and
obtained the rank of Specialist. He served active duty at the Joint Special
Operations Command and was involved in Operation Enduring Freedom.

Mr. Diaz earned numerous awards for his service, including the National Defense
Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service
Ribbon. He has Military Occupational Specialties in Geospatial Intelligence
Imagery Analysis.

Mr. Diaz is a community leader and public servant who works tirelessly to make
sure the community is safe. Mr. Diaz transitioned into civilian life by becoming
involved with the Co-op City Police Department in 2017.

In May 2019, Mr. Diaz was awarded Officer of the Month for preventing three
thieves from fleeing the scene of a crime by way of a blockade using his police
vehicle, which led to the apprehension of two of the thieves. In 2022, he was
promoted to Sergeant with the Co-op City Police Department.

Mr. Diaz takes pride in selfless service, integrity, and teamwork. His ability to
achieve a collective goal through hard work was garnered in the military, where
he utilized these skills to lead his fellow officers through their tours of duty. He
recognizes the importance of communication, adaptability and safety, and he
continues to mentor future leaders in the Department.

Born to Puerto Rican parents, Mr. Diaz was raised in Co-op City, where he still
resides and serves the community. In his free time, he is a community leader
in the Circle of Christ Church and mentors youth in the organization through
faith. He supports the next generation of leaders through his commitment and
dedication to the community.

Mr. Diaz is married and has a newborn child.
