Mike Liquori
Honoree Profile
Mike Liquori served in the United States Army and obtained the rank of Corporal E-4.
A native of Corona, Queens, he enlisted following his graduation from Newtown High School. After completing basic training, he went to Advanced Individual Training and received his certification as a Medical Aid.
Deployed to Korea, Mr. Liquori was assigned to a Medivac Unit, where he had the critical job of evacuating the wounded from combat zones. Mr. Liquori received multiple awards for his service during the Korean War in the early 1950s, including the Combat Infantry Badge and the Korean Defense Medal.
Mr. Liquori is retired from the Plumbers Local 1 Union and gives back to his community by remaining active in numerous groups and organizations. He is member of the Charity Masonic Lodge 727 NYC and held the position of Commander. He is the current Senior Vice Commander of Flanders Field VFW Post 150 Lion Tamer in the Corona Lion’s Club. He is the Sergeant at Arms for the 110th Precinct Community Council. Mr. Liquori’s dedication to his neighbors is exemplified by his service alongside community groups and the numerous events he volunteers at to help make them successful.
Mr. Liquori’s volunteer service includes the Perna Foundation for Kids, where he offers his military experience as a guide for the Corona Cadet Corps. He also supports the coordination of Queens Community Board 4 meetings, and the cleaning and beautification of local parks. He is known as the “BBQ Master” for all Council events, including National Night Out Against Crime.
Service to his Queens community has included supplying meals to displaced residents during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Always there to lend a helping hand, he distributed food and supplies to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He married his lifelong sweetheart, Dorothy, who passed away in 2021 after 66 years of marriage. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Michael, Robert, Joseph, and Rosemary. They are grandparents to 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
To this day, Mr. Liquori remains an example within the Queens community and for his family.
He is the personification of selfless service and leads by example to those around him.
