Heather Arzberger

Heather Arzberger, Chair of Fine Arts at Christ the King High School in Middle Village, Queens, is also the band, choir, and musical theater director.

During her time at Christ the King, Ms. Arzberger has built up a functional concert and marching band that performs at local Veterans Day and Memorial Day parades. She coordinates a concert chorus that performs at local tree-lighting ceremonies and religious services which, at times, even serves as a guest choir for local parishes.

The concert chorus performs at the annual Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Memorial held at Christ the King High School. On March 25, 2012, The Triangle Fire Memorial Association recognized Ms. Arzberger for her efforts in keeping the memory alive for the 146 victims who perished during the tragic 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. The inferno and loss of lives helped bring about important changes to labor laws enacted to increase the safety and protection of factory workers across New York City, New York State, and the United States.

Ms. Arzberger conducts all musical theater productions at Christ the King, and she helped Christ the King Musical Theater become one of the first high school theaters to receive the rights to perform Phantom of the Opera in 2011. Outside of her duties at Christ the King High School, Ms. Arzberger performs as a woodwind doubler and guitarist in various capacities.

Each year at the annual September 11 Memorial held in Middle Village’s Juniper Valley Park, Ms. Arzberger can be heard playing the flute during the reading of names for those lives lost. She also performs for various church services and community theater productions throughout the year, and directs musical productions with Maggie's Little Theater.

In 2004, she graduated from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education; shortly thereafter, she earned a Master of Science in Music Education from Queens College.

Ms. Arzberger resides in Middle Village, New York with her husband, Jeffrey, and eight-year-old daughter, Madelyn, to whom she would like to offer her thanks and all her love.
