Wilma Holmes Tootle

Wilma Holmes Tootle is President of W. H. Tootle Consulting Services, specializing in Etiquette. She is Co-President of A Better You Consulting Services LLC, specializing in Leadership Training.
A retired educator, Ms. Tootle taught English, Reading and Social Studies, also serving in roles including Dean of Women, Assistant Principal, and Principal. She was Director of Personnel for the Uniondale School District until her retirement, and served as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Professional Development for the Hempstead Public School District.
Ms. Tootle is President of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Long Island Chapter, and is a member of the National Board of Directors. She is affiliated and has held positions with numerous organizations that include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; Chair of the Development Committee for Alpha Kappa Alpha Education Advancement Foundation; and International Chairman of the Sisterly Relations Committee. In March 2008, she was recognized as a “Living Legend” in the Sorority’s North Atlantic Region.
Ms. Tootle has received numerous honors and recognitions, including Outstanding Contribution to Education from Nassau County and the Hempstead Branch of the NAACP. She is listed in the 2002 International Who’s Who of Business and Professional Women, and was inducted into the Class of 2009 and Class of 2013 Long Island’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business.
Ms. Tootle is known to many as a hard worker for humanitarian causes and devotes her time to being a community advocate and servant. She is a speaker, lecturer and workshop presenter with varied interests, including mentoring, leadership development, youth and female empowerment, social justice, and equity. Speaking to audiences, presenting informational workshops, mentoring youth and helping people are most satisfying to her. Her favorite audience is young people, who she believes are our most precious resource. Her motto is, “Make Service Your Signature.”
A native of Autaugaville, Alabama, Ms. Tootle received her Bachelor's from Tuskegee University, Master's from Hofstra University, and Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from C.W. Post College. In addition, she has taken doctoral courses at New York University. In 1988, she was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Monrovia College in Monrovia, Liberia.
