Annie Hogancamp

Ann Marie Hogancamp served in the United States Army from 2004 to 2009 as a Motor Transportation Operator and obtained the rank of E-4 Specialist. She was stationed at Fort Cambell, Kentucky; E-co 1/505th Inf. Reg., 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
Ms. Hogancamp’s deployments included Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2005 to2006 and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) from 2008 to 2009. She was due to end her active-duty service in 2008, but was involuntarily recalled to fulfill her unit's Afghanistan deployment, which she completed in 2009. As a Motor Transportation Operator, she conducted hundreds of convoys on some of the most dangerous routes in the world.
For her service, she earned numerous awards and accommodations, including the Army’s Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal (third award), Army Commendation Medal (third award), and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
Ms. Hogancamp joined the VFW when home on leave in 2006 and has since held various positions, including her current role as Post Commander of VFW Post 1449 in Endicott. She is the Chairman of the Western Broome County Parade Committee, where she helps organize and operate the local parades for both Memorial Day and Veterans Day. After each parade, she emcees the commemorative ceremony at the community’s veteran park. Along with the VFW, she is a member of the American Legion, the DAV, and holds positions on many community committees.
Throughout her trials and tribulations, she has been fortunate to have a strong support system of family and friends. She says that without these people, she would not be here today and feels that everyone deserves to have that same support, guidance, and encouragement.
Ms. Hogancamp has dedicated herself to helping fellow veterans in her community and beyond. For her, helping others is therapeutic. As one of the thousands of United States veterans that suffers from PTSD, she has learned that helping others cope throughout turbulent times helps lessen her symptoms. Her volunteerism and staunch advocacy have made an impact on her community and those around her.
