Etta F. Ritter

Etta F. Ritter, after working 27 years at the Community Board, is District Manager for Bronx Community Board Three. Ms. Ritter has over 38 years of New York City government experience, with a proven record of community relations and engagement.

A dedicated and seasoned New York City government employee, Ms. Ritter is an asset to the community she serves, and her responsibilities allow her to engage with her community daily.

Ms. Ritter has hosted and coordinated programs that provide awareness and education to residents, including health fairs, Mental Health First Aid for Adults and Children, Fire Safety Intervention, NYC DOHMH Rat Academy Training, and Emergency Preparedness.

Ms. Ritter advocates for Community District Three and is successful in addressing diverse complaints and navigating concerns from other City agencies. She is customer-focused and enjoys collaborating with others, resolving issues, and identifying creative solutions and strategies for her community.

Known for being innovative and possessing the ability to work independently and think creatively, Ms. Ritter was instrumental in developing and implementing systematic follow-up procedures to resolve community service delivery complaints. This procedure allowed the Board to track complaints, follow up on status updates, and communicate with constituents in a timely manner.

For her staunch advocacy and service to the community, Ms. Ritter has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Bronx Borough President’s Community Service Award, NY City Council citations and proclamations, and New York State Senate proclamations. Always thinking forward, she has completed the eCornell University Women in Leadership Certificate Program.

In her spare time, Ms. Ritter volunteers and has held leadership positions on the Executive Board for the Lexington Houses Resident Council, holding the position of Vice President from 2022 to present; Sergeant-at-Arms/Parliamentarian from 2018 to 2020; and Lexington Houses Resident Council Secretary from 2012-2014.

Ms. Ritter is a proud mother of her 38-year-old son, Jamel. She is honored to be recognized as a Woman of Distinction for her years of service.
