Pastor Kim L. Singletary

Pastor Kim L. Singletary is a woman who builds community and offers a hand to every person who needs it – a thread that carries through every endeavor she champions.

Inspired to give back to others in the same way that her childhood pastors helped her, Pastor Singletary joined the ministry at a time when women were significantly underrepresented. She found her voice in service when she became the first woman to serve as Pastor at the African Methodist Episcopal Churches in Chatham and Rockville Center. She is also the first woman Chaplain at the Berkshire Farm Center’s Burnham Chapel.

As Founder of Overcomers Ministries International in Hudson, Pastor Singletary works to ensure her congregation is a welcome place for all, and leads many impactful programs, including an initiative to provide free groceries to homebound seniors.

With a passion for unifying people, Pastor Singletary has founded several local organizations to foster positive relationships in her community. As part of her organization, GOD Belongs in Our County, she hosts gatherings with fellow faith leaders to give residents a place to turn for services and assistance. Pastor Singletary also created Brothers Restoring Order (BRO) and Brothers Restoring Understanding and Hope (BRUH), in partnership with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, to further connect local law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve.

A prolific public speaker and organizer, Pastor Singletary is known for speaking out against injustice and her advocacy for human rights, civil rights, and women’s reproductive health rights, all of which she advocates through her community radio program on Wave Farm Radio.

Over the past two decades, Pastor Singletary has championed local needs as a member of the Columbia County Housing Advisory Board, Concerned Clergy for Choice, the Hudson Interfaith Council, the Columbia County Police Reform Panel, Police Reform Plan Review Committee, and the Columbia County Women’s Alliance.

Pastor Singletary is the person you turn to when you need a hand. Her legacy is not only found in her remarkable accomplishments and the programs she has created to strengthen her community, but in the lives of all those she has helped along the way.
