Justin Berbig
Honoree Profile
Justin Berbig served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airbourne Division from 2001-2005 as a land combat electronic missiles repairman in Afghanistan. He achieved the rank of Specialist.
During his service to our Nation, he earned numerous awards and commendations, including two Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Parachutist Badge.
Mr. Berbig received his degree in History from the State University of New York at New Paltz, where he was the president, founder, and coach of the New Paltz Croquet Club. He continues to volunteer his time every year at the National Collegiate Croquet Championships, where he assists and mentors other croquet players. For his effort and dedication, he was named as one of New Paltz’s 40 Under 40 recipients.
Mr. Berbig is steadfast in his efforts to serve other veterans in the community At Island Harvest, he coordinated Operation Hope, where he was charged with scheduling and delivering food and supplies to hundreds of veterans across Long Island.
Always going above and beyond what is expected of him in his various roles, Mr. Berbig ensures that veterans and their families connect with much needed benefits and are aware of available resources. He also enjoys sharing his love of gardening.
He currently works at Long Island Cares as Veteran Outreach Coordinator, where he advocates for the needs of veterans and connects them with essential services.
A resident of North Babylon, Mr. Berbig and his wife, Selena, are the proud parents of two children, Zoey and Brandon.
